
The Urhobo Association of Manitoba, Canada is a charitable, cultural and non-profit organization. It was established on the 24th of August 2019, with over three hundred Urhobo indigenes residing in the Province of Manitoba, Canada assembled in Winnipeg and decided to form an organization that will propagate the cultural heritage of Urhobo people within the main stream of Canada society.
While Canada is in the forefront as a contemporary society through filtration of various world communities that is arriving Canada shores; it was deem necessary that the Urhobo people’s culture held sway for over nine hundred years in the Nigeria West Niger Delta should also be of significant in the global Village that Canada is creating. Contemporary society is a melting pot of civilization and when some culture, traditions, and values are completely relegated, the civility thereof will lack its essence and would only be a mirage.

Membership of Urhobo Association of Manitoba, Canada is open to all Urhobo indigenes who resides in Canada and have their root as Urhobo by birth or marriage.
All members have equal rights and share of responsibilities, however the general assembly of the organization elects its executive committee every two years to carry out the day to day administration and do analysis of all deliberations and make recommendations and decisions favorable on behalf of the Association as approve by the B.O.T.
Mandate of the Urhobo Association of Manitoba
Cultural Preservation:
To promote and preserve Urhobo culture, traditions, and languages through educational programs, events, and activities.
Community Support:
To provide support and resources for Urhobo individuals and families in Manitoba, including assistance with integration and access to services.
Social Networking:
To foster a sense of community among Urhobo people and create a platform for social interaction and networking.
Advocacy:
To advocate for the rights and interests of Urhobo people in Manitoba, ensuring their voices are heard in broader community discussions.
Collaboration:
To collaborate with other cultural and community organizations to promote diversity, inclusion, and mutual support.
Education and Awareness:
To educate the wider community about Urhobo culture and contributions, promoting understanding and appreciation.

Our people have a long and rich history rooted in our culture, traditions, and the strength of our unity. Today, we come together to celebrate who we are to share in the joy of our heritage and to continue building a future that reflects the values of our ancestors: resilience, respect, and brotherhood.
As we move forward, it is important that we remember the significance of our unity. The Urhobo spirit is one of togetherness and it is through collective efforts that we can accomplish our shared goals. We are here to support one another, promote our culture, contribute to the growth and development of our community, as each of us plays a vital role in making this association stronger and the world a better place.
I look forward to seeing you in the coming years to ensure that we continue to preserve and promote the Urhobo way of life, support one another in times of need and forge new opportunities for growth, development, and prosperity as I am excited about the journey ahead.
